Building has begun on two 24 storey tower blocks that will bring almost 200 new apartments to East Croydon.

The Bellway development, which will be called Vista 24, is taking place on the site of a former Jobcentre on Dingwall Road.

The apartments will consist of 86 one-bedroom, 81 two-bedroom and 14 three-bedroom homes, the prices of which are yet to be confirmed.

According to the developer, 23% of the housing will be 'affordable'.

Emma Hamlett, Sales Director for Bellway London, said: “We’re regenerating a brownfield site and creating something very special at Vista 24.

“We’re confident that the apartments we’re building are just what people need and are looking for in this part of London.

“They’re central and just a five-minute walk from East Croydon railway station, from where it’s 15 minutes to London Bridge and just 16 minutes into London Victoria.

“These apartments will be ideal for professionals commuting into central London, for first-time buyers and investors.”

The Jobcentre was moved to the Council's headquarters at Bernard Weatherhill House back in May.

As part of the planning agreement, Bellway will contribute £110,000 to public transport and £130,000 to local employment schemes, as well as paying for all local highway works associated with

the scheme.
