A Chessington resident will run the London marathon in a fundraising bid for children's charity Wellchild.

Lewis Marsh, a "born and bred" Chessington resident and account manager, will compete in the London marathon in April this year.

Mr Marsh, who also competes in triathlons, duathlons and is hoping to take on his first Ironman later this year, is raising funds for Wellchild, a UK charity which supports children with serious and terminal illnesses.

The Chessingtonian revealed that he had completed an astounding relay-race of half marathons in the weeks leading up to the main event later this year.

Mr Marsh said: "I've just finished running four back to back half marathons, each a week apart, to bump the fundraising but with nine weeks to go any additional support would be amazing."

He added that he was "committed to raising a minimum of £1600 by April" for Wellchild and hoped people would chip in for the cause.

Mr Marsh said: "Any donations big or small will really help support a great charity who do remarkable work caring for children and families who desperately need it."

The Chessington resident has a track-record of fundraising for worthy causes, and took part in last year's London Prudential Ride 100 to raise money for Guide Dogs.

WellChild is children's charity based in the UK which aims to help children and young people with exceptional health needs receive care at home instead of hospital, wherever possible.
