A Mortlake scout group are celebrating their 100th birthday and are looking for former members to come celebrate with them.

The 2nd Mortlake Scout Group is a scout group that has over 90 young members in the Beavers, Cubs, Scout and Explorer Scout sections and around 25 volunteers.

It was set up in 1919 on St Barnabas Day, when nine boys transferred over from the Mortlake Church Lads Brigade and will celebrate 100 years on June 11, 2019.

A Birthday Party is held every year to celebrate the anniversary with current and previous members and friends coming together.

The scout hut was built in 1908 and is still known as ‘the Gymnasium’ from its original use.

In recent years the Group has been hugely successful and the recent 2018 photo boasts 100 members across all the sections.

With their centenary approaching, they group are appealing for the family members of former members to come and celebrate the group.

Anyone who remembers appearing in the photos should contact Keith Wincott, scout leader on 2ndmortlakescoutgroup@gmail.com or on 07931902010.
