A park in Sutton is set for an upgrade with a range of improvements worth more than £15,000.
An action plan has been developed for Overton Park following site visits by Sutton Council councillors and officers.
Proposed schemes include replacing six vandalised trees, planting more than 5,000 daffodil bulbs and an outdoor gym close to Overton Grange School.
All together the improvements are expected to cost £15,041 according to David Moore, the council’s strategic director environment, housing and regeneration.
The full range of improvements are:
- Replacing six vandalised trees with four semi-mature trees on the pathway leading from the car park to Chipstead Close, costing £3,828,
- Supplying and planting five standard trees and 100 whips in the area near to Chipstead Close at a cost of £1,590,
- Planting 5,000 daffodil bulbs either side of the path from the car park to Chipstead Close for a total of £1,000,
- Providing an additional bench seat in the park, alongside a disabled wing, at a cost of £1,473, and
- Supplying and installing an outdoor gym (five pieces of equipment) close to Overton Grange School for £7,150.
The decision was ratified earlier this month after the Sutton South, Cheam and Belmont Local Committee was consulted over the proposed schemes, with the report being published on February 14.
