A police constable has been issued with a written warning after sitting in a train carriage that his ticket did not permit.
PC Matthew Alder, attached to South West Command Unit, faced a gross misconduct hearing on February 15.
It was alleged that on the May 29, 2018, he boarded a train at Clapham Junction in which he sat in the first class carriage even though his subsidised travel pass only permitted him to be in the standard class.
It is alleged that in doing so PC Alder had breached the Standards of Professional Behaviour in respect of ‘integrity, orders and instructions, and discreditable conduct.’
The panel considered all the evidence and found a written warning was the most appropriate sanction.
