A Leatherhead sixth former has been selected to represent Great Britain in Alpine skiing at the forthcoming European Youth Olympic Winter Festival (EYOF).

Olivia Foster, who attends Woldingham School, will be one of only 27 British athletes chosen to compete at the EYOF.

The A* student will follow the likes of former World Cup and Olympian alpine skier Chemmy Crawford-Alcott, who also participated in youth events and graduated to represent Team GB at the Winter Olympics.

Her mother, Juliet Foster, said: “Representing Great Britain at the EYOF is an amazing opportunity for Liv and we are so proud of her and all her hard work and dedication.

“We’re extremely excited about the event and very grateful that Woldingham continues to support her in her sporting goals, as well as her academic ones.”

Olivia has already won several events, the British U16 title for the Super G/GS combined in 2016, Trofeu Borrufa International Races in Andorra in 2017, and helped team GB to a best-ever second place by winning gold in the U18 slalom at the English Alpine Championships.

The EYOF is the biggest multi-sport event experience for the Youth of Europe. There will be 8 events Alpine skiing, Biathlon, Cross county, figure skating, ice hockey, short track speed skating, snowboarding and curling and around 1500 athletes from 50 European Countries are set to participate.

This year the event will be taking place in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina from 9thto 16th February 2019.
