A man has been taken to hospital this morning after being hit by a car near a busy Mitcham road.
Police were called at 7.14am to Raleigh Gardens near London Road following reports that a car had crashed into a pedestrian.
A man, believed to be in his late 40s, has been taken to a west London hospital with a head injury. His condition is unknown at this time
Local road closures are in place while emergency services deal with the incident.
This is the second time in a week that a pedestrian has been hit by a vehicle in that area.
On January 31 an 18-year-old boy died when he was struck by a coach in London Road.
Police have since urged anyone with information or who saw the crash to contact the Met’s serious collision investigation unit at Merton on 020 8543 5157, or tweet @MetCC.
