A Croydon charity has opened invitations to bid for three community grants to fund social projects in the borough.

Nudge Foundation, an independent grant-making charity, invites applications from organisations dedicated to working towards improving social inclusion, community cohesion, youth opportunities and increasing social mobility in Croydon.

Successful applicants will receive one grant of £1,000 and two of £500.

Az Chowdhury, company appointed trustee and senior partner at Nudge Factory, said: “Our view is charity starts at home and Croydon is home to me, it’s where I was brought up and educated nearby. It’s also the place I decided to start my business.

"That’s why I want to give something back through the Nudge Foundation and our first round of Community Grants.

"There’s already lots of great charitable activity going on in Croydon, but we want people to come forward so we can assist with funding.

“After all, charitable work cannot run on goodwill alone, it needs funding support. I know my fellow trustees cannot wait to see the fantastic ideas coming in before the deadline.”

The deadline is 5pm on Monday April 8.

Applications for 2019’s round of grants are invited from Croydon-focused registered charities, charitable incorporated organisations limited by guarantee, voluntary sector groups with a constitution and individuals provided they also have a constitution.

They will be assessed by the Foundation’s independent board of trustees on the areas above for the benefit of young people in Croydon. Successful awardees will be announced in early May.

Established in 2016 by Nudge Factory, a corporate affairs consultancy based in the heart of Croydon, the foundation is non-partisan and independent.

Nudge Factory currently donates 2.5% of its annual profit to the foundation to further its charitable work, which is governed by a board of directors who assess applications and award the grants, supported by voluntary staff.
