An Epsom Hospital security operations manager has signed a book deal with a world famous publisher.

Paul Grzegorzek, who wrote crime novel ‘The Follow’, will see the book hit shelves after he self-published his debut work more than 10 years ago.

It’s about an intelligence unit officer’s mission for justice after the culprit responsible for an attack on his partner avoided jail.

The paperback version of his book is available can be pre-ordered from Amazon, Waterstones and WHSmith for delivery in mid-March.

He said: “Securing a book deal with HarperCollins feels like a huge accomplishment and I am really excited about seeing it on the shelves.

“I have dedicated my career to security – and before that policing – so to achieve something like this in my spare time is an amazing feeling!

“I self-published ‘The Follow’ over a decade ago, so for this to be picked up now by HarperCollins is great.

“I enjoy writing short stories in my free and draw upon my personal experiences for inspiration.

“In fact, ‘The Follow’ was written over 10 years ago whilst I was working as a police officer in Brighton.

“I am very proud of the realism that I was able to include in the novel.”

Epsom and St Helier hospitals’ chief executive Daniel Elkeles said: “As well as the brilliant job that our staff at Epsom and St Helier do, they also have many hidden talents and it is fantastic to see them expressing those talents.

“Paul’s achievement just goes to show that, with the NHS, you can have a fulfilling career and still have time to pursue other hobbies and goals.

“On behalf of the trust, I would like to say a huge congratulations to Paul and I look forward to reading ‘The Follow’ once my paperback copy arrives.”
