A man has been arrested today (January 19) on suspicion of dangerous driving, after crashing a blur Ford Fiesta on the pavement in Walton.

This followed an earlier pursuit of the vehicle after the driver failed to stop for officers.

He crashed into the pavement in Cottimore Lane and left the area.

There were no reported injuries to pedestrians but the vehicle may have been in collision with others during the incident.

After Surrey Police officers searched the area, the arrested a man on suspicion of dangerous driving, attempted grievous bodily harm with intent and failing to stop.

Police Sergeant Dave Richardson said: “This is a serious incident in which the driver appeared to deliberately drive onto the pavement putting pedestrians at risk.

“We are keen to hear from anyone who saw what happened, including before this incident or afterwards when the driver left the area again.”

Officers searched the area after the crash and have arrested a man on suspicion of dangerous driving, attempted grievous bodily harm with intent and failing to stop.”
