Police have released images of a man they are hunting in connection with a reported attempted theft in Banstead.

The man is pictured leaning over a till as he allegedly tried to grab money from behind the counter of a petrol station shop in Nork Way, Banstead.

The incident was reported on November 17 last year at 10.30pm.

A Surrey Police spokesman said: “We are appealing for the public’s help to identify a man who we’d like to speak to about an attempted theft at a petrol station in Banstead.

“At 10.30pm on Saturday, 17 November 2018, we received a call reporting that a man had entered a petrol station shop on Nork Way in Banstead, while staff were cashing up.

“The man jumped onto the cash desk in an attempt to take cash out of the till, scratching the cashier’s hand during the incident and then fled from the premises.”

Officers said the man is believed to be white, around 5ft 7 inches tall, wearing a black coat, blue jeans, dark glasses and a face covering.
