Detectives are investigating after an abandoned 999 call to police claimed there was a bomb outside High Down prison in what officers believe was a hoax.
Surrey Police received a report of the incident at 10.30am today (January 15) before setting up a cordon to clear the area in High Down Lane around the facility.
But after nearly three hours, the cordon was cleared and officers were stood down.
A spokesman for the force said the incident is currently being treated as a hoax and “investigations into the origin of the call are ongoing”.
