A man in his 30s is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after he suffered a head injury early this morning in Croydon.

A spokeswoman for Met Police confirmed a member of the public had flagged down officers in London Road at 2.16am today (January 11).

But officers have yet to confirm how the man was wounded and are currently investigating.

A Met Police spokeswoman said: "At approximately 02:16hrs on 11 January, police were flagged down by a member of the public to reports of a male with a head injury on London road in Croydon.

"The London Ambulance Service also attended and the man, aged in his 30’s, was taken to hospital where he remains in a life-threatening condition.

"Enquiries are underway to establish how the man sustained his injuries.

"At this stage there has been no arrest; enquiries continue."

Police also confirmed the man's next-of-kin have been informed of his status.
