Police have issued a warning after numerous license plates were been stolen in Wimbledon.

Officers covering the Trinity Ward took to Twitter to share the news and advise people to take extra care.

"An increasing number of front and rear reg plates have been stolen on the ward recently," the post read.

"Mostly side roads off Haydons Road and generally overnight."

They added that they have a "limited" number of anti-tamper screws, but if residents should want one they should message @MPSTrinity.

"Further to this, it is important to report the theft of number plates by calling 101," they added.

"It is likely they will be used for criminal purposes and police should be made aware ASAP."
