London is likely to see temperatures drop below freezing tonight as we get closer and closer to Blue Monday (the most miserable day of the year).

The Met Office has said that parts of London and Kent will see temperatures of -1 and some very cold winds.

This means that you will probably wake up to a frosty start, so here is how to easily de-frost your car.

As we all know, there is the right way to defrost a car and the wrong way to defrost the car, right?

To save you a cracked windscreen, here are some tips on getting rid of that early morning blanket of frost.

Firstly, let it be known that you could be fined if you are found driving around without clearing your windows first.

So...

Do not use boiling water from the kettle

We have all been there, you're running late and you think it's the perfect solution. Put the kettle down, this is a really quick way of cracking your windscreen. Use water, even warm water but leave the boiling stuff for your tea.

Don't use your credit card to scrape the ice away

Home remedies

Meteorologist Ken Weathers suggests one third water and two thirds rubbing alcohol will do the trick.

Turn the engine on

Make sure your engine is on and the heating is on full blast inside. However if you are going to do this, don't go wandering off leaving the keys in the ignition, unless you hate your car and want it to get stolen.

Good old elbow grease

Get the scraper out, pop on a pair of gloves and get to clearing those windows.
