Police investigating a reported assault in the early hours of New Year's Day in Croydon are appealing for information.
A woman in her twenties was walking alone along Park Street at around 3am when she was approached by a man.
He dragged her into an alleyway, pushing her to the floor before attempting to remove her tights.
The victim managed to kick the suspect away. He fled the scene on foot, taking the victim's mobile phone and handbag.
It is believed the suspect travelled to St George's Walk and Barclay Road shortly before the attack.
He is described as white, between 30-40 years old, of slim build with shoulder length dark hair.
He is believed to have a south London accent and was wearing a black hooded top at the time.
