Move over Michael Phelps, there is a new swimming sensation in the works.

Wimbledon boy Max Higgins started swimming competitively in September 2016 and following his most recent achievement, it is easy to see why stardom is on the horizon.

Over the last fortnight he has swum at three meets and pocketed 12 gold medals, and one silver from 14 events with lots of personal bests to boot.

This brings his career tally up to a staggering 50 gold medals.

Max was recently promoted to the 'age group performance' squad at the Kingston Royals club which is just one level down from the national squad and where he trains between four and five times a week.

He has now qualified for eight of nine events for the Surrey Counties to be held in February 2019 over the 50m 'long course' pool at the London Aquatic Centre, home of the 2012 Olympics.

Max and the rest of his family say he is a strong candidate to reach the finals in all eight events, but only time will tell.

As for now, keep an eye out for the name Max Higgins as you may one day catch a glimpse of him at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
