Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust's Christmas toy appeal is open and they are looking for donations.

Everyone loves Christmas because it is a time for seeing family and exchanging presents, but not everyone will be able to be at home this festive season, including some children who will be in hospital.

Play specialist Carol Sullivan-Wallace said: “People's generosity is always really touching and we sincerely appreciate all of your donations.

"It’s wonderful to make a patient's stay with us that little bit brighter, especially at this time of year when they will be really missing home.”

Carol answers some of your frequently asked questions:

What can I donate?

Toys and gifts for the age range 0-16 years of age. Toys, games, books, family-friendly DVDs and CDs and stationary including school sets and colouring books/pens.

Gift cards for young adults are also a great idea. The toys will need to have the CE safety mark so they comply with regulations.

Do the toys have to be new?

Yes please - for infection control reasons we can only accept new gifts in their original packaging.

Also, please don’t wrap them in advance or we won’t know what they are and we’d hate to undo all of your good work.

Where can I drop my gifts?

If you can take them to the main reception desks at University Lewisham Hospital and Queen Elizabeth Hospital that would be fantastic:

University Hospital Lewisham, Lewisham High Street, London SE13 6LH

Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Stadium Road, Greenwich, SE18 4QH
