A Sutton girls’ preparatory school has been ranked as the best in the UK by national newspaper The Sunday Times.

Seaton House School, in Banstead Road South, has come out on top of this year’s Parent Power list for 2018 on the 100 Prep Schools List.

It goes alongside them being named as preparatory school of the year in a double honour.

The Sunday Times has since revealed its annual Parent Power rankings for 2018, with the new list being published on November 25.

Seaton House School headmistress Debbie Morrison said: "It’s a great honour to receive this double award, which is a result of the hard work of our outstanding teaching staff and our wonderful girls.

"Because we cap our class sizes at 20, we can provide a bespoke education to each girl and our pastoral care is second to none.

"Most of our girls achieve high academic standards, going on to local grammar or independent schools, but the important thing is that they all leave us as happy, well-rounded, confident young ladies."

Meanwhile, Wilson's School in Mollison Road, Wallington, took home The Sunday Times' UK state secondary of the year award while ranking third-best among top London schools.

Sutton Grammar School and Nonsuch High School for Girls were also on the list in ninth and 10th places respectively.

The newspaper's annual Parent Power list looks at the 2,000 highest-achieving schools across the UK and ranks them by their latest exam results.
