Stores at the St Nicholas Centre in Sutton High Street have been recognised in its first retail awards.

The Circle of Excellence Awards, organised by the shopping centre, aims to reward retailers across a range of sectors.

More than 100 people turned out for the dinner and awards ceremony on the night.

Topshop took first place for Best Customer Service, with jewellers Goldsmiths being named runners-up but taking honours for Best Dressed Window.

Family run Sugar and Spice – which offers various curries and desserts – was named Best Food Retailer of the year as Café Kiko was highly commended.

Menswear specialists Bricks and Mortar took the honours for Best Independent Retailer and Empire Cinema won both Best Use of Marketing and Social Media, as well as Store Manager of the Year.

And high street jewellers Pandora came away on the night with the coveted Retailer of the Year award.

But it was also a good night for security guard Nick Kroomson and cleaner Vijoeleta Dovidaite, as they were given individual honours.

St Nicholas Centre director Gavin Waller said: “The evening was a resounding success which celebrated the hard work, dedication and talent at St Nicholas.

“And we’re already making plans to make the event even bigger and better next year.”

The Circle of Excellence Awards were sponsored by business improvement district Successful Sutton, communications agency Owen, radio station Incentive FM, Sweat! Gyms, and Wonderland nightclub in Cheam Road.
