A Sutton charity which helps support the homeless has released a Christmas song with the aim of getting it to number one in the charts.

Artist Mr Celtic Reggae and Lisa Brown have written and performed the single, “Sing Happy Christmas”, with the music video being filmed in the borough.

All of the profits generated from sales will be donated directly to the charity.

It comes as Sutton Night Watch plan their annual trip into central London to present shoeboxes which are filled with crucial items for people who are homeless on the streets this winter.

They will be joined by voluntary community group Celeb FC this year – with a team comprising Celebrity Ghost Hunt’s Ashley Buckenham, semi-pro footballer Mattey Males, and singer Sarah Vaughan.

Andy Fulker, of Sutton Night Watch, said: “We are over the moon to have such talent recording a song to raise money on our behalf.

“We think it’s a great song that is really meaningful, and the money raised will really help us as we support those who are living on the streets.

“This is especially poignant at Christmas.”

Ms Brown said: “For me, Sutton Night Watch is about providing support and raising awareness for the homeless people within Sutton and surrounding areas.

“The charity is actively promoting the single in order to support as many homeless people as we possibly can.”

“Sing Happy Christmas” was written by both Mr Celtic Reggae and Lisa Brown, with singing from Eliza Hemphill, as well as backing by the Sutton Night Watch team and performing arts school Theatretrain Sutton.

The music video has been viewed more than 22,000 times and shared over 700 times, at the time of publishing.

Celeb FC founder Karin Flower said: “I’m so happy we’re able to be a part of this amazing charity movement.

“What Sutton Night Watch do, not only at Christmas but throughout the year, all as volunteers, all thanks to public donations, is absolutely amazing.”

Celeb FC, started last year, is a group of celebrities who play football and attend events in a bid to raise funds and awareness for smaller UK charities.

Services are also provided to individuals who may not be able to afford PR and appearance fees.

Sutton Night Watch’s annual Shoebox for the Homeless Christmas initiative will be on December 7, running from 6pm, with a trip into central London on a classic AEC Routemaster bus.

You can now download the song from iTunes, and it will soon be available on Amazon, Google Play and Spotify.
