Comedian Tim Vine is set to turn on the Christmas lights at a Cheam Village Christmas fair next month, it has been announced.

The Not Going Out star, who is best known for his one-liners, has twice won the award for best joke at the annual Edinburgh Fringe Festival – in 2010 and 2014.

Last time out he won with the one-liner: “I decided to sell my hoover. Well it was just collecting dust.”

In 2010, his winning joke was: “I’ve just been on a once-in-a-lifetime holiday. I’ll tell you what, never again.”

He would later be named a runner-up to the same honour three years in a row, from 2011 to 2013.

Now the Cheam-born funny man will be around at the 2018 Cheam Village Christmas Fair once again, with the event is set to be held on December 7 and run from 5pm to 9pm.

There will be craft stalls, activities for families, Santa, gin and Prosecco available to attendees.

Shops in the area will also be open late with stuff to do and special offers.
