A Hackbridge songwriter and a former Eurovision winner are teaming up to release a new album next year – with the proceeds being donated to charity.

Tony Power is collaborating with French performer Anne-Marie David, who first appeared in the popular international competition with Sir Cliff Richard in 1973.

It was her song “Tut te Reconnaîtras” (You’ll recognise yourself) that helped Luxembourg win the contest that year ahead of Spain and the third-placed United Kingdom.

Sir Cliff’s “Power to All Our Friends” would lag six points behind top spot as the winning country claimed its second Eurovision Song Contest title in a row.

David is among a number of musicians who have represented two separate countries in the same the competition, both her native France and Luxembourg.

Now both her and Mr Power are set to release an album as sale proceeds will go to the UK-based charity Cancer is a Drag.

It was founded by Alan Bugg in 2012 after he was first diagnosed with stage four Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma following the discovery of an unusual lump in his lower left abdomen.

The organisation aims to support people who are living with cancer and help them through their financial struggles.

All three tracks on the short album will be performed by David, while one of them is being both written and composed by Power.

It will be available to download and on CD from February 14, 2019.
