A football pitch in Nine Elms has won the outstanding venue award, one month after opening its doors.

Powerleague Nine Elms picked up the award, which is run by MyLocalPitch's for October. The state-of-the-art sports facility opened its doors in September and is already making headlines thanks to its innovative 5-a-side and 7-a-side football pitches by New Covent Garden market.

Some of the standout features are the rooftop location and the first high-tech skills zone of its kind in the UK which is due open to the public at the end of this month – usually reserved for professional football clubs.

Also all pitches are installed with pitch cameras to record goals & wearable technology that calculates your statistics including, passing accuracy, shot speed, distance run and compares you to a professional football player.

Powerleague Nine Elms plays an integral role in granting the local community direct access to sports pitches that were lacking before now. Nine Elms pitches are bookable for leagues, social bookings, kids’ parties, coaching and corporate events. Next week a tournament is being held for Children in Need and not before London’s leading Embassies go head-to-head for a competition.

As a further extension of its commitment to the community there is free pitch bookings for local schools and community groups.

October’s grassroots venue award, which is determined by MyLocalPitch users, was based on pitch quality, venue amenities and customer experience.
