A firefighter bravely confronted yobs who threatened him with a knife after calling him and his dad "white c****".

The father and son were in Eltham High Street at around 7pm yesterday getting a takeaway when a group of boys threw a McDonald’s milkshake at them.

"It landed and splashed all over my husband,” the fireman’s mum, who did not want to be named, told News Shopper.

"My son chased them and one of them threatened him with a knife while calling them white c****.

"He said ‘there is six of you and one of me so come on if you think you are brave enough'."

According to the mum, the youths, who were aged between 15 and 18, then ran off.

The mum described them as "cowards" and said her son and husband were “absolutely livid”.

For 18 years the family has lived near the high street and the mum said violence was getting worse.

"We are looking to move out of there,” she told News Shopper. "It is ridiculous. There are loads of gangs and I can understand why the McDonald’s closes at 9pm.

"I just worry for my daughter now, who's 17."

The family did not contact the police but a witness who heard the commotion did.

The Met has been contacted for more information.
