Plans to turn a house in South Croydon into five flats have received 35 letters of objection.

A proposal for three two-bedroom, one single and one three bedroom flat on the site of 11 Barham Road will be considered by Croydon Council’s planning committee on Thursday, November 8.

The application has been called-in by Waddon ward councillors, Councillor Joy Prince, Cllr Andrew Pelling and Cllr Robert Canning.

The plans which have been submitted by Craig Budge are recommended for approval by the committee andnall units would be sold privately.

The development would include one and two-storey side and rear extensions as well as extending the existing basement and creating light wells at the back and front.

There are no car parking spaces planned for the site but there would be a cycle store for eight bikes.

Part of the agreement would be to restrict people living in the flats from getting parking permits.

A report set to the be considered by the committee reads: “Subject to a S106 agreement to restrict future occupiers obtaining car parking permits there will be no impact upon highway safety and efficiency is considered acceptable.”

The potential impact on parking is one of the concerns raised by objectors along with over-development of the site and disruption caused during construction works.

The planning committee will meet at 6.30pm on Thursday (November 8) at Croydon Town Hall.
