Following their sweeping 3-0 win over Ipswich Lee Gregory believes Millwall have turned a corner in their season.

With their third successive home win lifting the Lions up to 18th in the Championship, a victory at Brentford this Saturday will see them leapfrog their opponents who were lauded in the early stages of the season.

In-form Gregory, who’s brace against basement club Ipswich secured the win, told Millwall’s official website he hopes to mirror their home form on the road.

“I’ve said before that it’s the same as last year, with good performances but some results lacking, but now we’ve turned a corner and hopefully our first away win can come next week,” said the 30-year-old striker.

“It was a great win – the boys were professional all game.

“We came up against a team who have had a bit of trouble recently, and we had to make sure it was a good team performance and a good win.

Manager Neil Harris was one of many who praised the striker who has been Millwall’s stand out player this season. Harris said he wanted his strike force to be more ruthless in front of goal and they delivered.

“I thought Lee Gregory was a poacher, he was perfect,” said Harris.

“With our attacking threat, height, aggression, (Lee) Gregory should get a lot of goals in the six-yard box and it’s just starting to happen for him now.”

Saturday saw Shaun Hutchinson return to the heart of the backline and with it came the first league clean sheet of the season at The Den. His inclusion was justified according to Harris.

“He was our player of the year last year, he’s an out and out solid defender, good leader, he’s my vice-captain and I felt like I needed him in the trenches to get back to clean-sheet mentality.”
