A lecturer has celebrated 50 years of working at Carshalton College.

Les Loveless joined Carshalton College on September 18, 1968 as a laboratory assistant on an annual salary of £705.

In 1970 the principal recommended that he be promoted to a technician due to the experience he had gained in the short time he had been with the College, together with the professional manner in which he carried out his duties.

In 1975 he was promoted again to a Senior Laboratory Technician, and after 10 years from his commencement at the College, and having completed his teaching qualifications, he took up the post of lecturer.

Mr Loveless has continued to develop his skills and knowledge and has taught on a wide variety of teaching programmes within the College.

He said he has seen a number of changes over the years with the College and teaching a vast range of students over several decades.

The college say he is known for sharing an array of stories and anecdotes of his experiences with his colleagues, and was described as a "valued member of staff"

The College celebrated his achievements and amazing length of service at a small celebration on Monday, (October 29) where he was handed £250 of vouchers.
