A second man has been charged with the alleged rape of a woman in a Carshalton alleyway during broad daylight.
Gabriel Sebastian Bejinariu, 20, of no fixed address, was charged with rape after being arrested in Kensington on Monday.
He was due to appear at Camberwell Green Magistrates’ Court today (October 24), Scotland Yard said.
It follows after police were called to the reported incident near to Alma Road at around 3pm on October 14.
The alleged victim, who is in her 50s, told detectives she was walking when she spotted two men standing on a bridge at Carshalton Ponds.
It was after she approached an alleyway which connects Shorts Road with West Street that they “grabbed” her before she was reportedly raped.
The two men were then chased after being spotted by members of the public as police arrived on the scene that Sunday afternoon.
Radian Cojocaru, 32, of no fixed address, who has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident, is scheduled to appear at Croydon Crown Court on November 14.
