“Only time will tell.”

That was Neil Harris’s response to whether the two minutes between the two penalties was a turning point in the Lions season.

With Millwall trailing 1-0, Wigan’s Josh Windass missed from the spot to double their lead, only for Shaun Williams to succeed from 12yards moments later in what was the turning point of the game.

The general feeling at The Den was that lady-luck had returned to the men from Bermondsey in those two minutes following early season misfortune.

“You need luck, key moments, key decision from referees, big moments from players,” said Harris.

“We’ve been on a bad run and had some horrendous luck, and now we’ve got seven points from four games which is a huge achievement for our club at this level.

“Two home wins in a row and four exceptional performances in a row means we go from down in dumps at halftime to being positive.”

Harris admitted the game changed on the penalty miss but his side’s mentality never wavered.

“First half we were the better team, some of the play we were outstanding. But we were nearly men, we nearly got on the end of a cross, we nearly scored, we nearly had a shot on target.

“We had a right go second half, we had a positive start and it was a matter of time, but then we conceded a penalty, at 2-0 down it’s tough. But we get one, a classy penalty with composure from Shaun (Williams) and my gut feeling was that we were going to go and win the game.”

Substitute Steve Morison’s 82nd minute tap in gave Millwall the points to lift them to 19th in the Championship but Harris was keen to praise Shane Ferguson’s performance on Tuesday and his influence on games in recent weeks after coming in to the side.

“All you want as a manger, who has been to-ing and fro-ing and has clearly not been happy or settled with the team, is players to come in and grab the jersey and go ‘right gaffer I want to play for you, I want a place in your team,’ and Shane has done that. He’s been fantastic from the first minute of pre-season and is reaping the rewards for hard work.”

Millwall welcome lowly placed Ipswich to the Den on Saturday hoping that lad-luck remains on their side as they look to climb the table further.
