A charity based in a Tooting estate have given the local area a facelift, by re-using waste materials.

Work And Play Scrapstore (WaPS) promote artful re-use of donated surplus/waste materials.

Based in Hazelhurst Estate, Blackshaw Road, ask local artists to decorate the estate with creative designs, using the donated materials.

General Manager Sacha Taylor said: “The reception to these pieces of art is always amazing. It’s a great way to interact with the community, people of all ages have come and painted murals.”

Previously WaPS have worked with Airborn Mark, who's artwork sites on the charities front door. They have now worked with another local artist, Jayson Singh.

He has brightened up the area underneath Hayesend House, with the help of residents.

Jayson led the project to add colour to the pillars on the Blackshaw Road side of the Estate, with residents painting their own murals in colourful Rangoli-style designs.

Over 100 individual murals have been painted. In addition, an over-size chameleon has been painted on another exterior wall, by Airborne Mark.
