Kensington Palace sent a personalised thank you message to the children of a Coulsdon school this week.

Sent to St Aidan’s Catholic Primary School, the thank you was in response to good luck cards and pictures sent to their Royal Highnesses, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, ahead of their wedding day earlier this year.

The official letter stated that Harry and Meghan were "overwhelmed” by all the messages they received and “immensely touched” by the gesture.

Mr Diarmuid Skehan, Headteacher at St Aidan’s Catholic Primary School in Coulsdon, said: “At the time of Harry and Megan’s wedding, the children really wanted to write to them, so we used it as a great ‘real life’ opportunity.

“This is something we’re really encouraging at St Aidan’s as part of our recent drive to further improve writing standards.

“I was just as excited as the children when we received individualised replies for each child from Kensington Palace.

“The children were delighted to say the least – its things like this that make the Royal Family so beloved and special.”

Year 1 St Aidan’s children received an official Palace letter, along with personalised thank you cards for each student.

The children wrote to the Royal couple as part of the school’s initiative to use real life opportunities to drive up writing standards.

Ella, 5, said: “I was so excited to receive a card from Kensington Palace with my name on it. I’m going to keep it forever.”

Commenting on today's announcement that the royal couple are expecting their first baby in Spring 2019, Sophia, 5, said: “I just saw on the news this morning that Harry & Megan are going to have a little baby soon.

"I am going to make them another card today to say Congratulations.”
