As winter approches, The Landmark Arts Centre once again opens its doors to artists from far and wide.

The annual Autumn Art Fair, open on October 20-21, showcases over 75 artists from Middlesex, Richmond, Surrey, and often further afield too. Held in the Landmark Arts Centre’s historic building near Teddington Lock, the art fair provides a unique setting for individual artists who make high quality fine art to exhibit and sell their work direct to the public.

Artists often find inspiration from the natural world; the walls in many a family home are adorned with paintings of the green rolling countryside, or a beautiful seaside print. Artists exhibiting at this year’s Autumn Art Fair at the Landmark Arts Centre are no exception, but there are a few who have taken this interest in nature and focussed in on dramatic textures and sculptural surfaces, with distinctly beautiful results.

Sandra Callowhill is an artist who works with kiln-formed glass; she became seduced by its ability to provide an outlet for her creativity, offering amazing textures amongst the natural beauty of the glass itself.

10 years since gaining her degree at UCA Farnham and she is still influenced by trees, coastal landscapes and the sea. Find her and her wonderful work on Stand 35 at the Autumn Art Fair.

Similarly, Karen Marks, an artist working with porcelain, finds her inspiration comes from the sea; the constantly moving lines of colour in the water can be calm or full of energy

and drama. She aims to reinterpret the flow and rhythm of the water and the constantly changing colours by reshaping the clay while it is still damp to capture and retain a sense of

energy and vitality. Find Karen’s ceramics on Stand 55.

Matt Calder works with wood, drawing on inspiration not just from movements of the sea, erosion, riverbeds and rock strata, but also from ancient Neolithic works and themes of growth and regrowth. His unique, large-scale sculptures and wall plaques can be found at the art fair on stand 70.

The Autumn Art Fair is the perfect time to visit, meet the artists, browse, and find new artworks. For an early peek at the catalogue list of exhibitors, and for more information,
