A mental health support group for runners has branched out to Crystal Palace.

Run Talk Run is a running group where people are encouraged to talk about their mental health.

Focusing on the link between mental and physical health, members enjoy a gentle 5km jog and an informal chat.

Run Talk Run founder Jessica Robson said: “I believe that running groups and mental health services can be quite intimidating, especially when you’re in a bad headspace.”

“Run Talk Run exists to be a less-intimidating way to look after ourselves mentally.

“Seeing people support each other and lend an open ear is very humbling. We are all in this together.”

The group provides both physical and online support, with an online hub helping to connect those eager to get involved and support one another, and real-life meet-ups on a weekly basis.

Run Talk Run aim to create a confidential and friendly space, running at the pace of the slowest runner and listening to participants' concerns with ‘a strong ethos of kindness and empathy’.

Lead by Amy-Louise Murray, the Crystal Palace branch met for the first-time last Wednesday at the Better Gym café in Crystal Palace Park.

Weekly 5km runs will begin there every Wednesday from 7pm.
