A pensioner accused of trying to rape a woman in Colliers Wood has pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Joseph Galloway, 68, of Upper Richmond Road in East Sheen appeared via video link from Wandsworth Prison at Kingston Crown Court this morning (October 8).

The Scottish national was charged on five counts, including attempted rape of a woman in her mid-20s on September 5, false imprisonment and intent to commit a sexual offence. To these three charges he pleaded not guilty.

But to the other two charges, robbery of a purse and its contents and having a bladed article on his person (the later being on September 9), he pleaded guilty.

He was remanded into custody.

A trial date has been set for February 11, 2019.
