Hundreds of people are expected to join a unique winter art trail in Southfields, where the front windows of houses and shops light up to become an outdoor gallery.

The Window Wanderland art trail will illuminate the neighbourhood's across Southfields early next year.

The first Window Wanderland event took place in Bristol 2015 and has since been held everywhere from tower blocks to villages, in the UK and abroad.

In 2018 more than 900 windows were lit up during Window Wanderland events, bringing tens of thousands of people to the streets of both urban and rural communities.

Lucy Reeves Khan, the founder of Window Wanderland, came up with the idea after an accident left her disabled.

She said: "I began taking rehabilitative walks at night and found that the light coming from inside people’s houses made me feel better, less alone and left me feeling uplifted. These walks gave me the idea that everyone’s windows could become galleries of expression and so Window Wanderland was born."

Lucy developed an online platform which enables events to be run by local organisers who all volunteer their time. The Window Wanderland website is now a gallery of over 2,000 displays, proving everyone can be creative and participate.

Organisers would love to hear from anyone who would like to get involved in Southfields Window Wanderland. Find out more at http://www.windowwanderland.com/event/southfields-london-2019/
