A man from Croydon has been jailed after pleading guilty to firearms offences.

Aaron Prince, 29, of Pampisford Road, South Croydon, was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment at Croydon Crown Court on Wednesday, October 3 after pleading guilty to possession of a firearm, a prohibited weapon and ammunition.

The court heard that on Wednesday, 22 August, police executed a warrant at Prince’s home address.

During the search, officers discovered a small pistol alongside 50 rounds of 9mm ammunition in Prince’s bedroom.

A quantity of drugs, cash and a stun gun were also found in the flat.

Prince was arrested and charged on Thursday, 23 August and remanded in custody. He pleaded guilty at a hearing on Wednesday, 19 September.

PC Shelley Allison, who led the investigation, said: “We are committed to protecting our communities from gun crime and are pleased that this weapon has now been removed from our streets.

“This sentence is a great example of the work Croydon’s crime squad does to disrupt the most dangerous offenders and we will continue to actively pursue and prosecute those who carry these weapons.”
