A man has been arrested for attempted robbery after stopping his moped in the middle of a busy Carshalton street and allegedly threatening other drivers.

Sutton MPS tweeted to confirm the arrest on Carshalton Road, which took place this afternoon (October 3).

The tweets read: “Team B dealt with a suspected moped enabled robbery on CARSHALTON ROAD this afternoon where a white moped had stopped in the road and was threatening drivers, while on patrol officers attempted to stop this bike on the above road but it failed to stop.

“Officers identified the moped rider and he has been arrested for attempted robbery.”

No further details about the suspect have been released at this stage, but police have appealed for more information.
