Talitha Arts, which was founded and is run by Teddington based actress Amanda Root, is holding a walk for victims of domestic abuse on Saturday, October 13.

'Every Step Counts' seeks to raise awareness of the charity’s pioneering, therapeutic work with the victims of abuse. The charity also works with trafficked women, those with dementia and refugees, among others.

The charity walk commences at 11.00am from Hampton Court Palace and walkers – with their friends, family and pets – will have the option of walking either 8 KM or 20 KM.

Root, most recently seen in the BBC drama, Unforgotten and currently filming a new movie on the south coast, said: “Our heart breaks every time we see and hear a stories of lives shattered as a result of abuse or illness, and our programmes are aimed at helping primarily women to express themselves and their journeys through the arts as a starting point to rebuilding their lost confidence. There is so much more we can do and Every Step Counts is really a heartfelt plea to join us for a fun, hopefully dry walk that will raise much needed funds for our work.”

Walkers can register for the walk by visiting the Talitha Arts website. If you are unable to walk on the day, the charity is inviting donations to the cause. For email enquires you can contact Catrin talithawalk@gmail.com
