Scam callers have been allegedly knocked on people’s doors to tell residents that they have a leak before stealing their goods, police have warned.
Sutton police say they have received reports recently and since issued advice to help people who could be affected.
You are advised to:
- Be careful if anyone comes knocking at your door
- Keep your door on the chain before opening it, or speak to the person through the door
- Always ask for ID
- If you are not expecting anyone, or don’t feel comfortable, then do not let them in
In the Facebook post, published on October 3, police urged residents to dial 101 in non-emergency situations but 999 for emergency scenarios.
