A young Croydon-born chef has landed a job at one of the world’s top restaurants.

Rick Owens will begin work as a commis chef at the world-famous Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons in Oxfordshire.

Created by iconic chef Raymond Blanc, the high-end restaurant has held two Michelin stars for over 30 years.

Mr Owens felt his training at Westminster Kingsway College, from which he just graduated, was crucial to him getting the role.

He said: “The course was excellent.

“I’ve learned so much and made some really good contacts in the culinary and catering world – something Westminster Kingsway’s chef lecturers are really good at helping students with.

“I’ve done some great work placements on my three-year-course and now I have an amazing job at Le Manoir!”

Other chefs who trained under Blanc include bad-boy of the 90s Marco Pierre White, and high-tech maestro Heston Blumenthal.

Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons offers a standard seven course dinner for £190.
