Registration for the newly-renamed Banham Marsden March is set to open soon as the walk takes place next year.

This time thousands of people – ranging from supporters, family members, patients, families, and friends – will walk 15 miles from Chelsea to Sutton.

Or they can take a five-mile route from King George’s Playing Fields, in Morden, to The Royal Marsden Hospital in Downs Road.

More than £11.8 million has been fundraised since the event began in 2011, a financial boost which has seen new equipment and research brought into The Royal Marsden.

Registration for the Banham Marsden March, sponsored by Banham for the next three years, will open on October 1.

The event itself will take place on March 10 next year.

Antonia Dalmahoy, director of The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, said: “Last year, The Marsden March was a real challenge as the ‘Beast from the East’ threatened to derail the event, but in the end it was our best year as our walkers braved the cold and raised more than £1.8 million for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.

“The 2019 event is definitely going to be bigger this year, as we have changed the route to add on another mile, and we are also hoping for better weather!

“We are incredibly grateful to Banham for their continued sponsorship and are delighted to rename the event to The Banham Marsden March, in recognition of their wonderful ongoing support.”

Registration before December 2 will cost £25 for over-18s, £10 for 11-17-year-olds, and under-10s participate free of charge.

From December 3 onwards, registration is £30 for over-18s, while the other prices will remain the same.
