Kingston Children’s Literary Festival returns to the town centre in October for a second year with an impressive lineup of children’s writers and illustrators.

Organised in partnership with Waterstones, the festival runs from Thursday, September 25 until Saturday, October 27.

The lineup include children’s authors John Dougherty and Ross Montgomery, the YouTube sensation Jonathan Joly, the illustrator Sophy Henn and the writing duo Doodles & Scribbles.

Children and families are invited to attend readings of some of their favourite books, read by the authors and illustrators themselves.

Each session will include an opportunity to get involved with activities such as illustrations, sing-alongs, puppet making and even a mini book trail.

The Mr Men and Liss Miss illustrator, Adam Hargreaves, who designed the festival’s logo this year, will be presenting his new book My Perfect Pet at the festival.

Mr Hargreaves said: “I am really looking forward to introducing Molly Mischief to the children at the Kingston Children’s Literary Festival this October.

“I always enjoy festival events because most of the time I’m shut away in my studio, so this gives me the chance to meet the children who read my books and see their reaction.”

“I also had great fun allowing Molly to get up to some mischief with this year’s festival logo.”

All books will be able to purchase directly from each event or at the designated Children’s Literary Festival bookshelf in the Kingston store throughout October.

Tickets are free for adults and range from £2.50 to £5 per child.

Each child will receive a free Kingston Children’s Literary Festival tote bag to carry their new books and arts and crafts home in.
