A waste leak has made a popular swimming spot amongst Shirley dogs unsafe for use.
A blocked drain caused the stream, located in the grounds of Bethlem Royal Hospital, to become contaminated with sewage.
Signs have been placed around the area to notify dog walkers.
A spokesperson for South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust said: “We are aware that a blocked drain on the Bethlem Royal Hospital site has resulted in a small waste leak.
“An environmental clean-up of the affected area is currently underway.
“The affected area is clearly marked, and we are doing our best to alert those who access the site for recreational purposes.”
