A tout has been given a suspended jail term by a High Court judge after breaching an order barring him from selling tickets at Wimbledon.
Mr Justice Lane handed Gary Nichols, 52, of Chessington a six-month sentence suspended for two years after ruling that he was in contempt of court.
The judge imposed the sentence at a High Court hearing in London today (September 7) after bosses at the All England Lawn Tennis Club complained that he had breached a banning order imposed by another judge.
They said an employee "acting as an agent" had bought a Centre Court ticket from Nichols on July 7 - a day when Rafael Nadal beat Alex De Minaur.
Mr Justice Lane was told that "agents" had also observed him in a nearby coffee shop and a pub.
The judge said Nichols had spoken of wanting £100 for a Centre Court ticket, of having tickets for other courts, and said he could "always get tickets".
Nichols told the judge that he had not understood the risk he was running.
