A North Cheam site which has seen enormous amounts of fly-tipped waste dumped in it within recent months will now have “round-the-clock security”, Aldi says.

Shocking images have revealed the second instance in months of rubbish which was left inside the old Evans Autos car dealership in London Road.

After police were called on August 14 to reports of travellers having parked up before moving out days later, it leaves the site needing a major clean-up.

But the German supermarket chain, which has been criticised over its efforts to prevent further occurrences, vows to stop the situation repeating a third time.

An Aldi spokeswoman said: “We are in discussions with the relevant authorities and have introduced round-the-clock security.

“We plan to block access to prevent further trespassing and the site will be cleared in due course. Subject to planning, we hope to open our new store next year.”

This has also inadvertently confirmed plans to open a new Aldi in 2019, though exact details remain unclear at this current stage.
