Britain's first ever blind tennis tournament has been held in Wandsworth.
A total of 17 blind and visually impaired people from across London played at Southfields Community College's sports centre, in the first tournament of its kind.
The matches took place on a badminton court with players using short handle tennis racquets and foam balls with a rattle inside so they could hear where it was coming from. Completely blind players could wait for the ball to bounce three times before each shot, and visually impaired players two.
After five hours of heats, the men's final was won by Dave Samuels. Odette Battarel, of Balham, won the women's singles.
Samantha Lahai-Taylor of Pocklington Resource Centre, which organises blind tennis sessions in Wandsworth, said: "This allows friends and families to engage in an integrated sporting activity, and is a great way for blind and visually impaired people to keep fit and healthy."
