Eden Walk in Kingston will be hosting a series of free family events this summer as well as a special attraction made up of 41 bespoke butterflies.

The butterflies feature a mix of different colours and sizes which have been suspended in the air by wires to appear as if they’re flying.

The aim is to inspire the people of Kingston to look out for real butterflies this summer.

The display is part of the centre’s Garden of Eden summer takeover which includes the arrival of a flower wall, artificial lawn and summer deckchairs in the Centre Square.

Ailsa Fraser, Centre Manager at Eden Walk, said: “The arrival of our butterfly display is a great moment for us and we can’t wait to see the reaction from our shoppers when they see it for the first time.

The centre’s free events are suitable for children aged 3 to 12 and will take place every Thursday in the Centre Square from 12pm until 4pm:.

All of the free activities will run on a first come, first served basis, so people are encouraged to arrive early to avoid disappointment:

• Thursday 9th August – The Secret Garden workshop – nature-themed crafts, plus face painting

• Thursday 16th August – Hansel & Gretel storytelling session (12 noon, 1pm & 2pm), plus face painting and a sweetie treasure hunt

• Thursday 23rd August – ‘Once Upon a Time’ storytelling sessions (12 noon, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm), plus face painting

• Thursday 30th August – Gardening Gala workshop – arts and crafts and meet resident gardener Professor Crump.
