Police are urging people with information to come forward after a 16-year-old girl was sexually assaulted on a bus travelling from Penge to Crystal Palace.

The victim boarded the service at around 10.30am on April 9 in Croydon Road with her friend.

They sat together on a set of three seats at the back of the 358 single-decker bus.

Officers say a man boarded the bus at Anerley railway station, in Anerley Station Road, before sitting next to girl.

A Met Police spokesman said: “He then began making inappropriate comments towards both the victim and her friend.

“The two females asked the man to move so they could get out of their seats, but he declined.

“As they tried to move past, he sexually assaulted the victim.”

Now police have today (August 9) released CCTV images of a man they wish to identify and speak with believed to be connected with the incident.

The suspect is described as a white male in his 20s, standing at 5ft 8in tall, with short brown hair and brown eyes.

He was said to be wearing a dark-grey cotton tracksuit and white trainers while reportedly smelling of cigarettes and holding a green lighter.

Anyone with information is urged to call police on 101 or tweet @MetCC.
