Booze could soon be delivered right to your door all night long if you live in Croydon. A start-up company called Drinks on Tap Ltd hopes to run the service from 7pm to 5am every day. People would be able to order alcohol, cigarettes and ‘household essentials’ online with a lower limit of £15. The company has applied to Croydon Council for a licence to allow them to  sell alcohol. Customers would be able to order drinks to residential and business addresses but not to public places. The operation would be based at Capital Business Centre in Carlton Road, South Croydon. Objections to the plans include concerns that it would attract drinkers and traffic to the area. But a response from licensing agent Chris Nixon said: “My client is a small start up company with a total of three part-time delivery drivers working on a shift basis through the intended hours. “I would expect that my client’s business will have little to no discernible effect on current traffic flow.” In response to worries that there would be drinkers in the area Mr Nixon states that the location “will act solely as a dispatch point” with no public access or sales happening in Carlton Road. The application will be decided by the council’s licensing sub-committee on Monday (July 30). The meeting will take place at Croydon Town hall from 10.30am.
